Greetings from Montana where we are happy to see our days getting longer. Winter lingers this year with relentless ice slabs on our sidewalks and streets, but generally, life is good. Those of you who are Facebook friends have seen the progress that Katie and I are making in our kitchen thanks to our carpenter friend Tommie. What a transformation we set in motion with the selection of a retro lime green sink. Now we have Mexican tiles on the backsplash, refinished solid fir cabinet doors, a new kitchen island, and plain formica countertops (easy to clean!). More to come as we decide what to do with the floors. We hope to salvage as much as we can of the vintage fir floors to avoid consumption of more resources from our precious earth.

We've been blessed here with massive flocks of Bohemian Waxwings lately. I love their sound as hundreds of them buzz and whirr from the neighborhood trees and roofs. I've posted pictures and videos on my Facebook page. I hadn't realized until this winter that the Cedar Waxwings migrate south for the winter but the Bohemian Waxwings settle in here, eating Russian olives, juniper berries and such.

Life as a musician and teacher continues wonderfully here in Helena. The Women's Chorus and my private students are an ongoing source of joy and inspiration. I had a great time collaborating with my colleagues Peggy Bennett and Doug Bartholomew on Saturday, January 23 for our second Montana SongWorks workshop. I've also been working with our Helena Music Teachers Association to attain nonprofit status. My young guitar and ukulele students performed the other day at a local senior care home. The residents enjoyed the music that we shared, and the parents and I were proud of everyone's performances. The progress I'm making with my ukulele students is laying the groundwork for a second Good Dog Ukulele Book. Speaking of Good Dog Ukulele, my web diva Kithie and I are finalizing the release of gooddogukuleleschool.com. More on that as it is ready for viewing!

Thanks for your continued support of my musical life. I am blessed to have so many good friends and fans.

My best to you all - Judy
